Susan was a loving and caring person who was incredibly protective of her family and suffered throughout her life from extensive mental illness. She loved animals and animals brought her joy all through her life. One of my first memories is our two new doggies barrelling into our room one morning with Mum laughing in the doorway as they lept on our beds. Mum did her best to care for animals and others by donating to charities such as Wateraid, WWF and Salvation Army every month even though she barely had enough for herself. She would tell me how every time she went shopping she would buy some chicken for the foxes who got used to coming to see her each evening for a meal in her back garden. Mum wanted to be remembered as a loving and caring person, and I think that is borne out in how she lived her life in her lovely little home in Leigh on Sea.
